Extensive social and industrial facilities

Two townsites respectively counting up to 2.100 and 1.500 houses, Zouerate and Cansado (near Nouadhibou), were built to meet the employees and their families' needs, along with all the necessary social amenities :

2 polyclinics respectively featuring 47 beds,
equipped with all the modern surgery facilities

4 schools

4 worship facilities

2 hotels

4 recreational centers

sports teams...

On a smaller scale, the maintenance outposts scattered along the railway
have also been converted into small villages supplied by railway.

SNIM also regulates its water and power supplies. Two powerplants in Zouerate, along with one in Nouadhibou, produce close to 220 million kWh per year and meet the industrial as well as the personal needs

SNIM also handles all of its maintenance :

Routine maintenance and express repair services are carried out at the five mines
( Seyala, Rouessa, Tazadit, Rhein and M'Haoudat).

Overhauls and major repairs : Zouerate's main workshops include as well mechanic, electrical, hydraulic, boiler making, machine tools, tyre and personnel transportation facilities, along with light vehicles garages.

Railway maintenance : the workshops are located in Nouadhibou.

Finally, the iron harbor, the Rhein plant, the various handling plants, the power plants and the drilling department have their own maintenance facilities.
